May 2019: Feeling just right — Outlast at Techtextil 2019

At Techtextil in Frankfurt (14 - 17 May 2019) Outlast will showcase in hall 4.1. at booth D09. New in the portfolio of proven solutions for proactive temperature and moisture management: a Nylon filament yarn for next-to-skin applications as well as sustainable product innovations.

At the 2019 edition of Techtextil, the leading international trade fair for technical textiles, Outlast will once again present the worldwide broadest spectrum of PCM solutions (Phase-Change Materials). Ranging from in-fiber and yarn solutions to coated fabrics to compounds for foam spraying and other textile finishings — Outlast® technology adds proactive temperature regulation to products in the areas of home textiles, sport-/fashion apparel and footwear. For the past years, the technology provider has recorded a remarkable growth also in the upholstery industry, in military and industrial safety as well as in the medical-orthopedic area. To any product that benefits from balancing temperature fluctuations – created by changing external conditions or activity – Outlast® provides increased comfort.

The microclimate between textile and skin is defined by an interaction between heat and absolute moisture. This balance is crucial for feeling comfortable, or in other words – ‚just right‘. Materials that merely isolate or just transport humidity away from the skin as reaction to sweat can only do half the job. Smart materials utilized in the Outlast® technology absorb, store and release heat permanently and repetitively. Overheating and chilling can be counteracted, sweat is significantly reduced before it even occurs.

The newly proclaimed corporate mission ‘feeling just right‘ means far more to Outlast than wearer comfort offered by the technology.  “We regard ourselves as a solution partner for our customers.” says Martin Bentz, Managing Director at Outlast. „We constantly seek for the strongest solution to each project and challenge. These solutions need to be economically viable and motivating for all sides but also future-minded and ecofriendly. We therefore continue to invest in sustainable materials and processes. This too, is part of our feeling just right - aspiration.”

Certifications such as OEKO-TEX® 100 Class I, resource-friendly dyeing and production processes according to the highest quality standards have long been integral part of the company. As part of the corporate initiative to continuously reduce the ecological footprint, Outlast had presented new products utilizing 100% recycled polyester as base material for the temperature regulating technology already at the beginning of this year. Reaching a further milestone, Outlast now sources the majority of its phase-change materials from renewable instead of synthetic raw materials.

As further product innovation in Frankfurt, the solution provider will present its new Nylon filament yarn. Here, PCMs optimized for this specific application are included directly inside the polyamide fibers. With this latest addition to the Outlast product range, the dynamic heat and moisture control functionality becomes available also for end uses where polyamide is preferred. Such applications include many next-to-skin products like undergarments, shapewear, sportswear, hosiery and many more.
