Less overheating

Outlast® technology was originally developed for NASA to protect astronauts against temperature fluctuations in space. Outlast® material is a microencapsulated phase change material (mPCM) that can be blended into compounds suitable for applying to fibers, fabrics and coated materials.

Outlast® materials have the ability to interact with your body to help balance temperature by absorbing, storing and releasing the heat that you produce and maintaining a comfort zone.

One way to demonstrate the performance level of Outlast® products compared to traditional products is with a Thermal Imaging Camera*. This camera shows temperature differences in color. From hottest to coldest, the colors are: white, red, yellow, green and blue. The images show Outlast® socks worn in a warm environment, keeping the subject's feet from overheating and reducing sweat. In a cool environment, chill is reduced.

The advantages of Outlast® Adaptive Comfort® products at a glance:

• Balances temperature
• Reduces overheating
• Minimizes sweating
• Reduces chill
• Actively regulates temperature

* Thermal accuracy of 2%.
